You’ve all heard the saying “Trust your gut feeling” but do you understand why you should trust it? I’m sure you have also experienced either not listening, or listening to your gut as well and realised the consequences of either! It is always 100% right !
I had a friend come to me this week and say “Yea I listen to my gut but then my logic overrides it”, I said to her “But you know your gut is always 100% right so why would you even question it with logic?” A light bulb moment was what followed, along with a huge smile!
The reason you should follow your gut is because the role of your “gut” (your stomach) in your body, is digestion. It must digest all your food and if it doesn’t like what you feed it then it starts to get a bit unhappy. This is your stomach saying to you “something isn’t quite right with what you just fed me and I need you to know that you shouldn’t give me that again”. It may have been just too much, something you have an allergy to, or something that was off – there are many reasons.
I’ve heard of a Japanese mogul who lets his meal choices guide his business decisions. While he’s eating dinner he thinks about or discusses the business proposition of the day. If he digests it well, he takes positive action. If the meal doesn’t go down well, then the deal doesn’t go down either!
So … “trust your gut feeling” comes from exactly this. If you are going through something in your life and it doesn’t feel right – then guess what – IT ISN’T RIGHT AND YOU SHOULDN’T DO IT. I know you’ve experienced that – I certainly have! Equally if you are experiencing something and it feels great – then you have nothing to worry about.
So here’s your challenge for this week – listen to what your gut is telling you, and here’s the really important bit, AND ACT ON IT!
Have a great week – it may be winter but make the most of using your fire and wearing gorgeous coats and boots!
